Available is brass fire poker, fireplace tool with a figural pixie jumping over what looks to be mushroom. Engraved are the words Cornish Pixie. The poker part of the tool does have wear as is expected of this kind of tool and its age.
A pixieis a mythical creature of British Folklore; a type of mischievous fairy with pointed ears. Cornish pixies are pixies from Cornwall, England and have become a popular emblem of the region. The main distinguishing factor between Cornish pixies and pixies from elsewhere is that Cornish pixies do not typically have wings. The record on these mythical creatures is a little mixed. Some say they are troublesome, while others report that they are helpful with housework. In any event, at some point, the idea that Cornish pixies are lucky took hold.
